Huskers Rhule

My thoughts exactly. Unless the money is astronomical, why go to Baylor, FCS?
innmc nailed it yesterday: Why do we want to start over again?

It makes absolutely no sense. We FINALLY, after a decade of gawd awful embarrassments, find ourselves competitive again--so what are some fans demanding after a couple tough losses? Start all over again?

I need someone to explain this logic to me.

I think Rhule is and should stay at Nebraska. Who do you have in mind that would be better? If we get to 8 wins I'll be happy. Finish the season strong no melt downs like last year. I don't understand all this talk about canning HCMRh. I see massive improvement from the last couple of years, we have a hellofa class coming in next year. You want to give all that up to what? Start all over with someone new? NUTS!
Jason Eck from New Mexico, Billy Napier from JMU just off the top of my head. Maybe even Dabo Swinney as rumor has it he's going to be out at Clemson.

Curt Cignetti and Bob Chesney say hi.

Fire everybody every year till we go broke paying coaches fired and coaches hired. Hire them and if we're not in the playoff or we lose a close one in the playoffs then fire them before they can leave the field.

I remember last season when Penn State---gasp!!!---lost at HOME to Oregon and the fanbase went ballistic. I mean, the Nittany Lions were poised to win the natty. What the hell? Franklin can't win the big one!!! Fire his ass!!!!!

But I'm sure the players didn't listen to all the outside noise--as it built and built with a couple more losses.

YAY!!!---the blowhards got what they wanted: Franklin was fired and the program brought in a seasoned 'Cignetti-like' hotshot like Matt Campbell with all his best Iowa State players. THAT'S THE WINNING TICKET, BABY!!!

With an influx of talent and a perceived 'soft' schedule Penn State entered the season having repositioned itself to 'take the next step' in ONE year!!!

um, How'd that work out?

Great example. MC was not their first choice. Many said no.

So how long do we keep a coach who isn't going to get us to the next step? A year, 2 years, 3 years? Etc. Maybe if we hire better we may have better luck. Honestly if we end up losing 7 in a row, he should absolutely be gone. That just shouldn't happen. Especially 4 years in. Not matter who the coach is.

The thing is when you fire HCMRh then he lives it up for doing nothing with his contract money. Half the team goes elsewhere, and we lose the *1 QB and top 20 recruiting class. Whoever we hire is going to look at the situation and say heck no. Nebraska isn't a hotbed for recruiting. Have to work twice as hard to get the players. I read the other day that the going price for a top QB is somewhere between 4 - 5 million $

Nothing like a couple tough losses to bring out the 'fire coach' brigade. :)

In case you haven't noticed, we've entered the "NFL-ization of CFB's Big Two. Every defense is tough; every game is a war; and the goal is to get through the season with as few of scars as possible.

We'll see how the second half of the season plays out but why all this anger? Are we like Penn State last year? Were we predicted to win the Natty and nobody told me?

If I had predicted back in June that Nebraska would go toe-to-toe against Indiana and Oregon but come up short, what would have been the response here?

I was told on more than one occasion that we had zero chance against 'The Big Boys.' I was told the Ducks and Hoosiers were both at an elite level and we'd be lucky if we could stay within three scores. Am I wrong?

I don't care to go back and look, but a large number of posters here predicted 5-7 or 6-6. A number opined we'd be better but with this year's schedule, we would be lucky to go 7-5 again. Maybe 8 if we catch a break.

But at 5-2 it's time to hope for a new coach? At this point in the season, we have the exact same number of losses as Alabama, Florida, LSU, Missouri, Tennessee, Ole Miss, Texas, Minnesota, Wisconsin, and Iowa.

If we end of losing a bunch more games by the end of the season THEN go ahead and scream to the heavens. But the only thing all this post-Oregon fan fuss is doing right now is putting more damn pressure on the team.

My advice? Relax and enjoy our Blackout game on Saturday.

Of the teams listed above, how many wins do they have against ranked opponents? Right now, Nebraska is a top tier MAC team when you look at their schedule. The most impressive victory we have to date is against (gasp) 2-6 Michigan State, who remains winless in the B1G.

I'm looking forward to the Blackout game this weekend, but I won't be relaxing and enjoying until the final gun sounds. This team has a way of unrelaxing and disenjoying my mood with their 4th Q collapses.

I am looking forward to the Blackout game too. FWIW, I saw a photo of the field: Our Big Red N on the 50 yard line had been replaced by our Skull and Crossbones. :) :) :)

A double-bonus from enjoying the game night atmosphere in person is that I won't have to listen to you in the Shoutbox. ;) :)

I'm not sure this is the flex you think it is, Doc. Sure, it proves Matt Campbell is not all that and a slice of bread, but it further illustrates just how damn impressive it was to see Cignetti bring his players from James Effing Madison and dominate the B1G in his first season. Cignetti was NOT handed a boatload of NIL money from boosters until he proved just how good he was as a head football coach, then he got the financial backing from the likes of Mark Cuban. Coach Matt wants the financial backing for NIL before proving he can coach them up.

Admittedly, I can be somewhat incorrigible in the box at times.
