It's Official

This reminds me of hiring a new pastor for a church... 1/3 will love it, 1/3 will be OK with it, and 1/3 will not be happy and some will leave the church over it. Everything to this point is 100% speculation and pride. This attitude kills a church and keeps fans from having an open mind.

He checks the boxes that this program has been lacking for years, and if people get hung up on physical features or speculation of failure, they need to move on. Is he here for the long run, no one knows for sure, but for the amount of time he will be here he will be the difference maker the program needs.
I'm guessing the naysayers have so little evidence this is a bad hire they have to resort to criticizing his attire and inability to relate to players from Western Nebraska. Credit to 84 for bringing up a valid concern...will Rhule be here for the long haul? But TA cannot base his decision on what he thinks is best for the program on "what ifs."
I understand it is an 8 year deal. If he moves on early maybe the U can recoup some of the Mike Riley and Scott Frost buyout costs.

While I think we made a mistake with Rhule, and that we will be doing this all again in 3 years, I am hoping that when he leaves he is 45-0. Good luck coach, heres to hoping you can turn this team around. I think a lot of the pieces are there to make this a good team, just got to get the right guys coaching them.

I got news for you, I doubt this all gets turned around in just three years time.

I don't know kmillz. With the right leadership and coaching I don't think the Huskers are as far away as you think. Yesterday was evidence of that. Huskers won a road game against the team with a clear path to the BIG Championship.

Depending on how fast Matt can build an offensive line, I might disagree with you. A good line used to take about three years to build. I'm not sure if the Portal and Junior College, can change that, but I hope so. In the "how long will it take to build an O-line thread" several said that if we get healthy, and get the right coach, it could be much sooner than that. Hope so.

I agree it's a heavy lift that will take time. But physical and mental toughness will result in a complete culture shift and go a long way. It will be interesting to see how long it takes.

We lack depth and talent and many key positions. He will need time to get some guys and develop them. I do expect immediate improvement, but we probably won’t see that improvement as many more wins.

I hope he’s heading to Lincoln to talk to the team today. Looks like players are already jumping ship.

I hope he keeps it simple and teaches good fundamentals. Get good at simple things and expand slowly. Be tough, oh and no standing around in practice.

I'm not sure what Trev needs to explain. This is a coach who admires physical but disciplined football. I'm not sure how a four-year Joe Paterno walk-on LINEBACKER is wrong for us. He has a well-deserved reputation for developing players and has serious experience on both sides of the ball -- including being a position coach on the offensive and defensive lines.
He was the head coach AT BAYLOR. Have you ever been to Waco, Texas?

Rhule can just throw on some coveralls in lieu of his typical muumuu and he'll be fine out in the sticks ;scared

This hire has better potential than all but a few of the names being thrown out the last two months, and guys like Meyer weren't realistic, AND may have been more drama than needed anyway. If Matt and Mickey can agree to work together, things could be pretty good pretty fast, but if not, there are other guys who can recruit out there.

Rhule was not my first choice - and recruiting western Nebraska is not going to allow us to beat tOSU and Meatchicken

If ranchers want a former Husker talk to Trev

Hopefully Rhule does put an elite staff in place - if he can get recruiting right I think the other pieces (S&C, development, game management) will be fine.

I gotta worry more about the kind of person who is hung up on the clothes a coach wears over their ability.

Belechik walks around in hoodies with the sleeves cut off. Who cares about that kind of thing.

Not directed at you, Doc. Just seen that around more than here
Ya gotta admit the guy who sent me that Ewok Smock comment....it was a hoot.....
But I get what your saying.

I'm going to have to see with my own eyes cause talk will not get it done.....

DOC HOLIDAY.

Amen - Rhule is not IMHO the best choice but proof is in the pudding - aka on the field. All talk until next season.
