Tuioti To Oregon?

Best news of the off-season so far. Tony couldn't recruit worth Baby Poop for his DL targets. Now we can improve DL recruiting acumen and start recruiting Big Ten level guys VIA the actual DL coach.

He is a decent coach, but you can't outcoach good recruiting.

His DL never once shutdown Iowa, Wisconsin, or Minnesota. Hell, even Purdue had a functional rushing game against us this season.

Best news of the off-season. Now move Dawson down to DL, Bush to OLB/Special Teams, and hire a RB coach.

I'm going to agree and disagree with the above. I think Tony is a good coach (much better than decent). His recruiting does leave some to be desired. I think our D-line has improved greatly since Coach T has been here. I agree though that most of the players have been inherited, and this year has been a bust on the recruiting trail. You are probably right about Dawson moving back, Bush taking OLB/Special teams, and now getting a RB coach........I like about half of that.

Wrong, wrong and wrong

BIG Loss

Hope this isn’t true. He brought an edge to the room and the line has been better under his watch. Yes recruiting could be better, but he develops the kids he gets or has inherited. More than what you could say about those offensive coaches that received pink slips.

Our d-line statistically is much better since he's been here... but it's not excellent nor is it championship caliber. I agree that recruiting has not been stellar... though as a team the last couple of years has been iffy. Perhaps his performance is related to the plan from the top.

This would be a big loss.
I've seen several links confirming Tuioti is Oregon bound.

I can't say as I blame him since Frost is on the hot seat, it stands to reason that the coaching staff is also on the hot seat. Stability and a chance to coach winning football teams. Sounds like a win-win to me.

That 50% pay raise doesn't hurt.

Tony wasn't anywhere close to being one of the better DL coaches in the Big Ten. Not even near the top of the Big Ten West.

His recruiting was awful. The 3 projected starting DL for 2022 were all recruited by Dawson and Tony was here for 3 seasons to recruit and not a single person he landed will be in the two-deep for 2022.

Tony will easily be replaced by someone who can actually compete on the recruiting trail and bring in good talent.

Tony never once was able to stop the rushing attack with his DL by Minnesota, IL, Iowa or Wisconsin. Vastly overrated because the DL got better during his time, but nowhere near having a stout DL.

His 2 kids are good (one is in the portal, one will be a frosh) - I think Oregon targeted them as much as Tony.

Rush wasn't stopped because Chin's scheme had a 235 OLB with his hand in the dirt on running situations vs BIG OL men. Scheme was even employed even when Minnesota had 6 OL in their formation. Tony was a good coach, not a great coach. Was average recruiter at best. Think he will recruit better on the coast.

This stinks. I felt like he was a very good coach. This explains why we have been waiting on the last coaching decision from SF.
