It looks like Pitt did have a close to 50/50 run/pass split this year. I hope the run portion has a power run game element. Going to need it for all those 3rd and short and 3rd and goals we struggled to pick up.

As far as the running game goes, I'll expect more of the same UNTIL I see a fullback recruited and inserted during short yardage situations.
Ya know, what bothers me more than no full back is that under the Frost Duckeroo system, the QB gets 75 percent of the carries and not only have they eliminated the fullback, they have eleminated most of the other ball carriers too.
The key part of SUH's true comment was "in CFB these days." It seems to me that over the past few decades we've witness the "wussification" of CFB. Nowadays it's spread offenses, finding an open RB or WR in space, and flags for what used to be called great, slobberknocker hits.
But CFB, like everything else, is cyclical So someday some young innovative head coach is going to come up with a 'revolutionary' new offense that features a new position called "the fullback." Then, trust me, everybody will jump on the bandwagon for this new-fangled O that features a power running attack.
I want to take a time machine forward to THAT new era of CFB!

It just seems to me that we decided to 'follow the lead' of the West Coast and Florida flag-football crowd and go shotgun and spread at the very same time we started playing a Big Ten schedule. Helloooo? What's wrong with this picture? And yet, we're surprised we've been so bad? Nothing burns my butt more than watching Wisconsin and Iowa "out-Nebraska" us.
I have no doubt some folks here will read our rants, Blatz, and think we're 'stuck in the past.' But I swear that if a TO in his prime was coaching Nebraska today, we'd discover that 'the same old stuff' he ran out of "that same old "I" formation with the QB under center" would still work well today.

When one says "hey have you seen this guy's video about Spencer Rattler "supposedly" coming to Nebraska" ?
"What a hateful gasbag this A$$ Hat is !" "I'm gonna find out who this jerk is and settle his hash!" He said ! Fortunately for this guy my teammate has a job that keeps him busy.
He must be a SEC guy that really has a bug up his kazoo about the Huskers cause Later I looked up this video thing he does kinda like Hayden Connor at Corn crazed....but he's into making videos about the biggest failures in Football and how far they have fallen....stuff that might be interesting to some but turns most decent folks stomachs ! His video about Rattler went on and on about why Rattler coming here would be a huge mistake and how Frost sucks but not as bad as Nebraska sucks period, it only took a few seconds to see he was plainly trying to convince Rattler he shouldn't go to Nebraska but should wind up at South Carolina instead....(obviously by his accent he is a down trodden SEC weak sister who actually thinks his videos will sway coaches and players ......what a hillbilly maroon !
Bottom line here is if we win with this new set of offensive coaches great.....more power to us.....but if we fail.....oh my it's gonna get real UGLY......REAL QUICK IN LINCOLN.
Maybe the best thing is to realize we all want Nebraska to win...no matter how it's done....if Frost can make it work where others have failed....good for him and I will bite my lip.
And if it fails I won't be running all over saying I told you so.
I'm all Husker from top to bottom and can't change that but we don't need the fan base splitting down the middle over offensive direction.
Just my observations now that time has cooled me off.....that and I can't out run Kate anymore.....and I don't want to wear a cast iron skillet for a hat if I don't quit my complaining.

I still want Nebraska to be true to it's roots and all of that but I also just want this loosing nightmare to end. I still think Frost can get Nebraska where we're at least respected again and a threat to win our Division and every few years a Conference Championship....but time is not on his side and it marches on leaving us behind further every season. That's got to stop. No matter how it's done.

It's not up for discussion really right ? This has to be done....it's that old crawl before you run kinda thing. You can't do one without starting in the right place and you can't skip to the end of the story because your impatient.

I was definitely surprised when Whipple turned out to be the selection. I was thinking he'd go with Korn or someone with a similar system to what NU was already running. But, he's going the route of where LSU was in 2019 and Alabama has been in 2020 & 2021. Not sure that's what will work for us but I guess in some vein he gets respect for swinging for the fences. They will definitely need to bring in some real dudes to pull this off.
Doc, the trouble with Frost is that he was tainted at Oregon by Mariotta/Chip Kelly. Oregon is not Nebraska football. He was illusioned by the anomally known as the UCF National Championship and he never returned to his roots at Nebraska, not even close. Frost had Marcus Mariotta tossing the rock over the field for 4500 yards in his senior season at Oregon. Frost never achieved that kind of yardage in 4 years career at Stanford and Nebraska combined. His success at DONU was playing in a run first offense with an all pro rb named Ahman Greene. Successful teams are built from the inside out and Scott still goes for the glitz. Wisky and Iowa play grind it out ball control football, and Frost would rather play sand lot gimmick football. Oh yes, UCF, never played a down of defensive football. That team would be lucky to win 2 games in the B1G.
Frost needs to play ball control/clock control football. How ever the new OC needs to stop the incessant mistakes that kill us and we still do not have a ST coach to help with that part of the game Our NST cost us probably 4 games. Fix the problems that kill us.
Get Chins a pass rusher and d lineman on the portal. We need to rebuild the D after all those guys go to the NFL, not a small order.
I wish both Frost and the charmin guy good luck, they are going to need it all.

There's no such thing anymore/right now that is "Nebraska Football" - we've been irrelevant for over a decade. The style we had when we one big.... almost 30 years ago. The players weren't even born yet.
Whatever style we want - find the players that can make it work and win games.
