Jason Peter and Jay Foreman now on "staff"

I enjoy listening to Foreman on the radio. He got it then...

But the NCAA does not allow volunteer coaches to help others "get it now."
So, when Foremen says, you have to become a complete player, work on all aspects of your game, and at some point, reinvent yourself, and players talk to him one on one, whats the NCAA going to do, say, knock off all that guidance? Limit his words?

Heres your shot doc

Youll have tomove though

I'm not trying to be Debbie Downer here, but seriously, how many times over the past six years have we heard about an inspiring pep talk given by one of our 90s alums to the team?

How'd they work out for us?

I suspect these types of Husker news updates are more to placate the fans than anything.
You may see this different, but I did not see a lack of motivation in this team over the last couple of seasons. I don't think Frost is bring these guys in to be rah rah drivers. I think he is bringing them in to help teach the little things that make a player complete.

I know several players back in the 70s who did short stints in the pros then came back and helped out with the hopes of getting their foot in the door for a coaching job. These guys knew how to play the game and were trying to show that they could teach as well.

I think supplemental help for kickers and punters from past huskers has been pretty plentiful in the past.

There are some on BHF, Chris included, who think the last thing we need to do is provide reminders of "how we did things in the 90s", so that is a sentiment that some hold. IMO, I think it is a good idea to have JP and JF around, as long as everything out of their mouth isn't: "We did it this way, and you need to do the same." If they can relate to the current players, and approach things on the current players' level, then they may be able to impart some knowledge about the successful pursuit of excellence....

Ya know, 20 years ago is ancient history for us old toots too. We need solid play and solid coaches to be our inspiration. No one on our team today was alive in the 90s and the reality is there was nothing but pong donkey kong and mario brothers....who the game wizards today would scuff at. The Huskers of today have to make their own history. These guys have to take charge. https://athlonsports.com/college-football/nebraska-football-newcomers-watch-cornhuskers-2021

I think that's the problem we're facing -- the kids today aren't even old enough to remember when "We was king"-- in our glory days, those kids didn't know what it meant for Nebraska to lose. I do think it affects the mind set and that will continue to be a problem until we get a good winning streak going.

I think we beat Miami at home after a good pep talk from, I believe Grant Wistrom. I dont know I guess I dont really keep track of that. But I dont see ANY harm in having former greats being around to help out. I am guessing about every school does that. We just hear about it because we are following the HUSKERS. And these guys arent just there to deliver and inspiring pep talk they are there to help out in the weight room and other things. Like I said maybe they should just get some of the posters on here to come in and evaluate the talent of the players and coaches so we know where we are. Surely they know more than Peter or Foreman.

That was a Miami team with a losing record we beat at home. Our head coach was fired at the end of ths regular season. Good times.
The last part of your post makes no sense.

Again...smh...that coach wasn’t fired for W/L we all know that he was an a33hole. Period. I supported him as much as any. He was an a33hole and thank gawd he is gone

I like the move of bringing in JP and JF, but I'm not sure what your point is for the part I bolded. This is a message board. All of us, yourself included, have opinions about things that are done, and what is going on. I'm not sure why these opinions get under your skin to the point where you feel a snarky a$$ed comment is required, telling everyone in essence that they aren't qualified to have an opinion.....

Well, Ive seen a few comments where a player rated higher than Wandale wont amount to much.
Or, our new rb wont either.
Or, our new wr wont either.
Or, AM wont win for us.
Or, very vey very late to the game to recognize our defense was playing good.
Like their 3rd down conversion rate was some of the best on the nation.

Theres lots more, like, we cant develop players, or, we arent that young.

Theres a list a mile long of not just wnting the team and coaches just to prove it, which is right to say, but evaluations of neer do well players. So much Negabraska

I think that is because this draught has lasted wwwwwaaaaaayyyyyy longer than any of us would have predicted. We're all tired of being celler dwellers. You know "Patience, my ass" or "I want it and I want it now!"

A lot of the points have validity, just some games or weeks or off-seasons, that poor horse is dead and buried and still getting the snot beaten out of it.;horse

I agree, but this csse is, we all want to see it, not hear it, we all agree, but some cant resist making outrageous claims that unearth said horse.
There are good things happening that have potential, like getting Jay and Jason.
We already know, that unless they want to use this opportunity for a future coaching career, why theyre here, and its likely they wouldnt if things were working out, but, mentioning it on the way in on the conversation about them is beating or unearthing that poor beaten horse, with little comment about this move, or, the comments about them, or the players are preceded by that dead horse in the comments.

So, both sides of that poor horse has been beaten pretty badly, and everyone has a hand in it.
Lets all be thankful PETA hasnt been called

All I'm gonna say is this.

I told you all that our group would do whatever was asked of us to make the program what it was while we played.
I wasn't just blowing smoke !

DOC HOLIDAY

I appreciate this move Doc, but...why not get them here under MR, coulda saved us 6 years of heartache.

Edit: Caveat - OK, I'll give you the MR days, cuz they weren't "Husker Way" coaches, but Scott? He shoulda acted on this day one when he saw a soft D. :)
