Season to start around Thanksgiving???

Agreed. Except the part where the SEC is actually trying to get things back to normal and the Big10 isn't.

..but there's also the part where none of us can presume to know what the future holds, or whether "get[ting] things back to normal" is remotely feasible in the short term, if ever. That's where reasonable minds can differ.

What is "normal" for these "standard-bearer" schools, anyway? Is it simply "they played a FB game"? Does 'normal' mean 50% seating? 25%? 4 - 6 sports eliminated? 8 -10? Greek Row wholesale quarantined? Online classes only for red-zone schools?

Big 12 schools will play FB next weekend, but their AD budget shortfalls (due to things which include minimized or nil game attendance) are still crippling. They'll likely never be the same, whether they kick or not.

At some point, "Normal" is gonna be a quaint term, I think. Maybe "old normal" will be more descriptive.

My $.02

Or the B1G could not give a damn what the SEC thinks, and proceed as they see fit.
Agreed. The Big10 serves their member schools, not the SEC. What I would hope is that the Big10 would carefully consider the totality of evidence, use solid data sources, consider all the actors involved, and make a well thought out decision that served all parties the best they could. I would then want them to clearly communicate that decision to everyone. I think there is plenty of evidence that shows the Big10 has failed on several of these items, and that's my issue, not what the SEC says....

I think most folks would agree that communication sucked in how this issue was handled. I'm not sure if good communication would make people any happier though.

Down here in SEC country, I'll admit that I'm a bit jealous that they're at least making the attempt. However..it won't be the same. UT alone had 44 players unavailable for practice primarily due to contact tracing. Similar situations will undoubtedly occur at other schools as the weeks go by. No one -really- knows how much of a season will actually get played but I'll be the first to admit..I'm a bit jealous.

It wasn't just the communication, but other aspects of their process. I don't want to beat the dead horse any more, but they did a sh!tty job of evaluating the flawed Myocarditis study, didn't involve enough of the stakeholders, and didn't even try to make good faith effort to play this fall. But, it's done now and we can watch the other conferences play this fall if we want to enjoy some football.

"Thank God for the Nebraska lawsuit" and "They're fighting the good fight..."

For a while at least, I think we'll be the second-favorite team in the state of Ohio. I'm not sure how much long-term benefit there will be from that, but as someone who has lived in that part of the country, it brings a smile to my face. GBR.

Oh yeah, Ohio St. Loves us right now. I think they will become the new Oklahoma rivalry. Respectful but hate to lose to them too! I've read many comments from their fans praising our fight and how they can't wait to play us and hang out with husker fans. Pretty cool...

Hate to sound like a Debbie Downer but given our recent performances against those guys, I'd be looking forward to playing us too if I were a Buckeye fan.
