Season to start around Thanksgiving???

I have edited a post with political content. Said post was edited but not deleted.

I deleted 2 posts that made note of that post. (Sorry I permanently deleted them instead of removing them from view. In hindsight I should have not deleted the permanently so I am sorry for that.)

From now on please don't reply to posts that have content that is questionable or in violation of the forum policies. We would like you to PM one of the Mods or and Admin and we can look at it. This will help us not to have to delete so many posts.

This reeks of politics. SMH at how this has all transpired.
Agreed!
If you stand by your decision, you can be seen as a leader with convictions.
If you come out and say we were wrong to jump the gun, let’s try to play, you can be seen as measured leader who made a mistake and a listener to your stakeholders.

If you say spring season, then after the uproar change your tune to um...November start, you reek of a leader who doesn’t want to say they are wrong (which a good leader ALWAYS does) and try to save your job by picking the literal WORST option (which shouldn’t work).

I would venture an opinion that this is as bad as the decision to postpone. Maybe worse.

It is becoming pretty clear - in many places - regardless of the risk/infection rate - football is going to be played. I don't see it as a big risk to public health as long as attendance is controlled or not allowed (depending on where the location is at with regard to Covid). It does set-up Warren to take a great fall (Humpty Dumpty).

If the teams are kept 100% isolated from the rest of the campus, go for it. Otherwise ... community spread which is COVID-19's best friend.

If the teams are kept 100% isolated, are they fulfilling their primary mission of getting an education or are they just there to play football? I ask that because I don't know how much on-line classes are available.

All real evidence is indicating that the majority of the virus spread is among close groups and family members inside of buildings and not out doors. The best medical advice should have been to encourage people to spend MORE time outside in the sun and less time indoors. AND, clean up nursing homes and long term care facilities and limit the number of people allowed to interact with the sick elderly.

So in the stadium, they should close off all luxury boxes until the virus is no longer a grave threat.

That's all fine and dandy until someone infected sneezes or coughs right into your face, indoors or outdoors. All bets go off then.

Statistics are favorable for keeping games to outdoor venues.

It is really questionable if indoor stadiums are given the green light. That really torpedoes the B1G cancellation that occured earlier.

The start date soon after November 3 just adds more fuel to the conspiracy theories. It's really hard to imagine how the B1G could be handling this any worse than what we see here.
Bingo. That is the most logical. And they can hide it in Thanksgiving without admitting it. See all this speculation occurs because of the lack of communication and transparency...which means our trust in this B1G diminishes almost daily.

Could also happen at the super market or hardware store. And if lightening strikes you in the stands, you could be hauled out of the stadium in an ambulance. If everyone is wearing a mask, I don't see why you'd be all that worried about a sneeze or a cough. Unless masks are simply symbols.

Yes, will we know EVERYONE will comply with masks. Just look at how UT is handling that.

I go to the supermarket at 0 dark thirty (their olders time) Wear a mask, come home and shower thoroughly afterwards. Ace same same.

I don't go to the stadium but I don't want this crap to get community spread around GI worse than it is already going to thanks to the NSF which is on going.

I'd love some day to be able to leave my house without wearing a mask and I'd love to go to the grocery store at a time that should not be reserved for sleeping and/or drinkling tons of coffee.

OK, starting the season on Thanksgiving makes no sense. If the BigTen is going to have football in 2020 start it in September with the reduced schedule that was previously proposed. Otherwise, keep it cancelled and live with the consequences and the horrible precedent.

I don't know that they can get a season started in September now. Maybe October but I think September is going to be like doing one of these: (And mind you they have already done one to postpone the season.)
