Does anyone have any insights into who might be replacing Dawson as D-line coach? Would there be some past Husker player now coaching at a high level who might be interested?

On second thought, who cares? Our D-line is so good we probably don't even need a D-line coach.

Deacon Jones. He's gonna teach the finer techniques of the head slap.

I remember hearing him tell a story about head slapping offensive linemen. They responded by turning the screws on their helmets around so that if you head slapped them you'd put a screw through your hand. Deacon Jones responded by taping a steel plate to the palm of his hand. Boy has football changed.

I know this isn't going to happen, but it would be so funny to have Frost bring back Pelini as the D-line coach. We could enjoy watching him chase the Wisconsin head coach down and berating him after games.
I know I shouldn't but I have to give this one a like. It gives me a visual that will keep me warm at nights.

Brett Diersen SMU - He was at NU under Pelini
His name has sure been bandied about. A few questions that aren't leading questions......just questions.

How much influence did he have over the DL during his internship here? We certainly had a good defensive line while he was here, but was it Carl or Brett.....or just a wealth of talent?

Any idea why he resigned after one year at Indiana under Wilson? (OK this one might be leading just a little;))

He has certainly had some talent go on under his tutelage......Is he known as a developer or recruiter?

An interesting coach that I know little about.

I would say at NU he just had a plethora of talent on the DL. His time at NIU is what looks promising.

Brett Diersen - Football Coach - SMU Athletics

I also wouldn't be surprised if Frost goes to talk to Brett & ends up also talking to Randall Joyner. Joyner has had rave reviews from his time as a GA at OSU & Hawaii. Worked under Greg Schiano & Larry Johnson.
