Smart phones and social media have made kids dumber than normal.

It was used in the movie "The Friends of Eddie Coyle" which was released in 1973.....John Wayne did not appear in that movie. Robert Mitchum had the lead role....but he did not say either. He co-star Steven Keats was the one with that line.

sounds like his girlfriend had a 3some with his bestfriends. and he got hurt held the video and sent it to her in anger ( stupidly)
I don't believe it wasn't consensual because of her parents behavior.
mom monitors her electronic communications, and this one was taken straight to the police.
that doesn't sound like parents who would not have taken the 2 co stars of that flick in immediately.
not passing judgment in anyway, just saying something doesn't add up.
now he is getting a lil famous and at a B1G school, on tv every weekend and mom and dad go this far ...... but not when it happened

You cant give consent at that age, no matter what, unless legally married in a state that allows marriage at that age.
Distribution originally by one of the assailents of the vid was later ound out and punishments were given, and also, at 15, if caught, as in the vid, she couldnt stop justice anyhow.
Circumstances may have been at the time to let it go, as she had gone through enough already unless she herself pressed charges, but didnt in shame.
Theres so many ways this could have happened, at this point in time, it becomes aged regardless.
I knew a lady whose daughter was abused in photos of he partially clothed, and it too was distributed throughout the school.
The daughter was ashamed,no one went to jail, but the porn charges didnt exist then either, to the point of clarity its tried today.
So, it could be consensual with guaranteed shame to the girl, or it could be rape, the shame, it wouldnt matter one way or the other,not with vids throughout the school.
Again, innocent until proven guilty.

This is terrible...I have dealt with this a few times with Junior Sailors in the Navy. It happens more often than most think. Before smart phones imagine how often it went unreported...The creeps literally tell on themselves.

Not concerned with the animals who allegedly raped her. Their day will come. This is a husker site. IF MoWash sent that to her, I would rather he not represent this university. Frost is trying to build character in this program. IF it is proven he did this, clearly he is bereft of character. Due process is in order Val, I don't think anyone here has tried and convicted him.

The "ifs" are the question. "If" he did this, then absolutely he needs to be punished. Beyond that, should he be punished beyond the level that the perpetrators are?

The skeptic in me really questions this. Why go after the guy who taunted you about it but not the guys who committed the actual crime? Obviously there has to be some evidence since it was recorded but what is the motivation for going after a secondary crime but not the primary one?

The only thing that has changed is how easy it is to record stupidity...Stupidity and crime has always existed except now these young folks can easily record themselves. I’m not letting my 16 y/o drive yet because I can’t trust her to put down the phone.

Agreed. Something just doesn't seem right here. I'll wait, but at first blush it appears to me that anger (ie old girlfriend) and stupidity, trumped commonsense and decency. But IF an actual assault took place ( ie the boys were minors as well) one would hope compassion would win the day. It doesn't always in young emotional persons.

As obvious as it seems, the staff, the program and the school would do well to require a mandatory class on the dangers of cell phone use/abuse, and the consequences of breaking the law, on athletes future lives.

EDIT: It just dawned on me.......there is no consensual sex by minors in California.....even if both are minors. In a case where both persons are minors, both are considered guilty however.....

I don't know that this meets the intent of the law. The law was written to keep people from sharing compromising photos or videos of ex lovers with others. If I read the article correctly he did not give the video to anyone else nor was he the source of the video.

I think this is one thing that might come into play. The distribution was directly to her. And it wasn't something new. The family and victim......and it sounds like a lot of the school.....were already aware of it as it had been sent to may students. It seems more like he sent her something that was already a matter of public. Now.....I'm not saying that makes him innocent. What I think it does is puts depth to the level of guilt that might end up being assigned. But then again I don't know.....I'm just guessing. I just don't see this being as bad as distributing it on a paid porn site.

Man, Maurice. It's easy to hold a grudge against an ex and want to get a shot in on them at a later date, but you had to know that was extreme. When all this is said and done I hope he can work on the character part of him. I know he hasn't had the easiest/best life but you can still have strong character. This experience will definitely force him to build some character. You don't want people to have to learn through the possible outcomes he's staring down at the moment.
