Just gonna put this here... FWIW somebody I know that is usually pretty accurate says Mullen is on a supposed "short list"....

Is he expressing interest? What does Nebraska have to offer that Miss St doesn't? Sad to say this seems to be less than a lateral move in college football today. I mean, he wouldn't have to face Bama every year but Saban will be gone within 3 years. Is recruiting really more difficult in Lincoln than any of the other power programs?

not a glowing resume, imo. That said, he would get time from me... as long as we see better results than Riley.

'86-'91 Miss St had 14 total wins
'91-'03 75-75-2 record
'03-'08 23-47 record

Mississippi St is not a power house SEC school. With the exception of a few winning years by Jackie Sherill, who left under NCAA investigation, Miss St has not been successful. Considering what they were before, Mullen has done a good. Just my opinion.

Like I said, wouldn't be unhappy if Mullen was the coach

Seriously, he hasn't shown me anyplace that he has the internal fortitude that this job (which has just became tougher) is going to require....I've not seen the fire and passion, the just plain old determination that rubs off onto others that this mess is going to take to get cleaned up and put into order. What we have needs to start on day one of our new Coaches arrival....he needs to set a tone right off the bat that this is NEBRASKA and things here are done a certain way, granted lately they haven't been and that's why we're in the shape we're in now, so starting day one if your not interested anymore in hard work, determination and the will it takes to succeed....then Quit, transfer out or whatever but get the heck out the way cause the coach and the guys who came here to be winners and proudly wear the red Block N are coming through.

And that's all I gotta say about that.

Oh and it would help a ton if this new Head Man was a guy that held the firm beliefs that the way to win here is by playing old fashioned big boy football....run the ball control the clock play great Defense and truly special Special Teams....and you will be very successful .

Doc.

and NU has 5 national championships.. that didn't mean anything for Cally, or for Bo, or for Riley.

Like I said, I wouldn't close my mind if he was hired.
