My condolences to Nebraska fans,

Another tough morning, eh Pavvy? You're not alone, brother. We all feel you.

<sigh> gbr, I guess.

How many watched the comeback? Major adjustments too little and always at least a quarter way too late. This is why Rhule cannot win top 20 games.

And another thing. Or maybe two. As a general rule I leave players out of my hyper-critical takes concerning Husker football. These aren't huge criticisms of players. Let's call them observations.

I admit, I drank the Koolaidrea after the first 5 games, but let's face it, he has not played well in our 3 losses. The timing of the Great Announcement that he would be returning next season was awful. The "it" factor I thought he had was limited to MAC competition and quite literally the two worst teams in the B1G. The investment this program made in his return is eerily similar to the same one Coach Mattie received last season when he was raising his skirt and showing his all to Penn State. Then Minnesota happened, and this season Washington happened.

Finally...Gilmer. Heard a lot of early season talk that after Smith at OSU, Gilmer may be the best receiver in the B1G. IMO this has turned out to patently false. Every Saturday I see receivers making some unbelievably difficult catches. Hell, I saw one last night with about a minute remaining in the game by a Washington receiver. On far too many occasions Gilmer lets catchable balls slip through his hands. Throw in his weekly block in the back or holding penalties that negate huge plays and you have an average to slightly above average receiver, not a game changing playmaker.

I wonder how much of the AC problems were the new contract and how much is he has lost faith in his OC and his receivers. Our recievers have been a huge dissappoinment. I thought the OL played OK last night. Our WRs are just average at best.

I'd say this is 100% true for the D. But we clearly aren't getting it done on ST and O - so SOMEBODY needs to get those fixed. Rhule just stepping back seems highly unlikely given the results of late. I don't trust our 2 ST analysts and Dana to "take care of business" just because Rhule gets out of the way. They haven't shown they can.

The team had a chance to make changes during the bye and you would have thought they could have made enough change to at least beat Washington

Unfortunately - I think that is who Rhule and this staff is. While he seems to understand what is going on based on the presser Monday......did you really hear anything that will fix it? We are trying to do too much is coach talk. Moving offensive coaches to the press box......eh....I don't see how that helps anything but if we score 30+ on Illinois maybe there is something to it. More likely.....we struggle to score more than 14 points and D has to save our keisters yet again to get a W.
Honestly - the best way to judge a coach is results. If the same results continue this year and 2027 I don't see how Rhule is head coach past next year. If we lose all remaining games - certainly one possible outcome - he may be gone after the Iowa game.

Our remaining games are iffy at best for a win and 3 of the 4 I will be shocked if we win. Rutgers is the only one I see as a possibility, the other 3 I have resigned myself to probably being losses.. If we start 5-0 and finish 6-6, I don't know why admin won't just can Rhule and get it over with. They may give him another year to show how desultory his coaching is, more likely if things don't change, he would get canned part way through the year. Not sure what he can do to turn this trainwreck around.
