We’ve fired up the tailgate barbeque for GO BIG RED and, while we don't have a lot of rules here at BIGHUSKERFAN.com (BHF), let us remind you of some basic expectations of guest behavior.

Don't Be A Jerk

Simply put, don’t be that guy. If you make the BHF community a less-pleasant place to be, we don't want you here and we have no problem revoking your membership. Avoid these behaviors and you’ll do just fine.

Persistent and Repeated Negativity

Can fans be upset about the state of our teams, coaches, or programs? Sure. We all would rather win. There’s not a forum member, moderator, or administrator who is happy with losing. But, you are not welcome to remind everybody in every post how negative you feel. Express your frustrations once and leave it at that.

Flaming

Calling people names, attacking their points of view, or posting in a thread just to incite is not acceptable. This includes calling others a troll.

Trolling/Intentionally Derailing

Posting inflammatory, extraneous, repetitive, or off-topic messages with the primary intent of making the same point again and again or to provoke others into an emotional response or otherwise disrupting normal on-topic discussion will not be tolerated.

Offensive Posts

This is a good way to be shown the door at BHF. Please read what you write before you post. If you wouldn’t proudly show it to your beloved grandmother, delete it. Racist, sexist, homophobic, pornographic, or hateful content earns an instant ban from the message board.

Posting Just To Increase Your Post Count

Making lots of short, one word posts to simply grow your post count will be considered spam.

Restarting Closed or Deleted Threads

Just don’t.

Rants (and Ranting and Ranting)

You can disagree with whatever you like but please remember you are a guest in our house. Banging on and on using obscene language and ALL CAPS is not acceptable. Yell at your monitor if you must. Then take a deep breath.

Attacking BHF Staff for Moderating Decisions

This includes closing threads or moving topics. The first goal of our moderators and administrators is to be fair to everyone. In that regard, they do what they believe is in the best interest of all members.

Spam

BHF is not a place for gratuitous self or product promotion. If you want to promote yourself or business, please do it elsewhere.

Piracy-Illegal Activities

Discussion of illegal activities, including content or media piracy, copyright violation, hacks, drugs, or criminal behavior is not allowed and may result in a permanent ban from BHF.

Creating Another BHF Account After Being Banned

Don’t Respond to Somebody Breaking The Message Board Rules

If you notice someone in violation of BHF rules, please report them to a moderator or administrator. Note the reason for reporting and let the moderators do their job. Responding to a troll, spammer, or someone who may have flamed you will only get you in trouble, too. The best advice is to report, ignore and move on. Any other behavior which BHF ownership or management deem, at their sole discretion, to be detrimental to the board, its mission, or membership.

Be Respectful of Others

Everyone is entitled to their opinion, but no one is entitled to attack others for sharing, or not sharing, their opinions. If you can't communicate without using combative, aggressive, or demeaning language, then please keep comments to yourself or risk losing your member status. Deliberately inflammatory threads, posts written with the sole intention of irritating people, attacks or inappropriate commentary regarding the BHF staff or community members, or attempts to derail a thread will be removed, as will your forum privileges.

Topics Out of Bounds

These topics are no longer welcome:

• Religion
• Politics + Religion

To get along, all we ask is that you leave the political and religious discussions out of the BHF message board. Nobody ever wins these discussions and they often bring out the worst in us.

This isn't a pro-right or pro-left thing and it's not directed at any one individual. Whether you think you are holding an intelligent conversation or your goal is merely to provoke others, please take it somewhere else. We will actively close/delete any such discussion. Please respect all your fellow BHF members and staff or expect to have your membership privileges revoked.
