Breaking News. Just heard we've moved our 2027 season opener to Arrowhead in KC against Miami of Ohio on Aug. 27th.
Helps with the Big Rebuild.
Arrowhead is such a great venue for a game! We were there for Okie State and it was just absolutely incredible! I say that as a Chiefs season ticket holder at that time so I had been to Arrowhead numerous times but the atmosphere was just totally different from Chiefs game days. There is nothing like it as far as I am concerned (Husker mania, that is).Breaking News. Just heard we've moved our 2027 season opener to Arrowhead in KC against Miami of Ohio on Aug. 27th.
Couldn't agree more, Uenth.Arrowhead is such a great venue for a game! We were there for Okie State and it was just absolutely incredible!
We were at Arrowhead the night we played Okie State too. Fun game--uh, once it was over and I could breathe a sigh of relief. All I'll say in a negative vein about that game was that it was absolutely a sign of things to come. That game was a nail biter far longer than it should have been. But dang, it was really fun!Couldn't agree more, Uenth. We were at Arrowhead the night we played Okie State too. Fun game--uh, once it was over and I could breathe a sigh of relief.
This move is right for a lot of reasons:
- We were originally scheduled for EIGHT home games when Memorial Stadium will be at a lower capacity due to the construction.
- As we witnessed last season against Cincy, Arrowhead will be a guaranteed sellout 'home' game.
- It reminds us Old Timers of the Big Eight days.
- Given the opponent, the venue will add a little extra ZING to our season opener.
- Metro Kansas City is a key recruiting target, one we need to dominate once again.
- It shows all those Tiger, Jayhawk and Kitty fans living in Kansas City who the really Big Dawg in Town still is.
- With another successful trip to Arrowhead, maybe another KC trip there with Mizzou or KU as our opponent could be a future Week 0 game. (fingers-crossed.)
That's because you haven't been there. It was great, great, great. Sometimes change is good and this is one of those times, IMO!Why would we give up a home game to play at Arrowhead???? I don't like this because the real losers are the businesses in Lincoln, especially the ones downtown who lose out on potentially millions of dollars in lost revenue. Our AD should never trade a home game to play in KC, or anywhere else. If the game is scheduled @ our opponents and they change to KC (or some other place) ok, fine. But I don't like this.
Lincoln is going to get seven home games. Why would we give up a home game to play at Arrowhead???? Something to ponder, what if instead of having xcld the Tennessee series they would've swapped the home games? So Tennessee scheduled to be in Lincoln next year giving them their 8, then KC and Arrowhead called and said, "Hey, let's move that game to KC." Not only would the game sellout but the National buildup and attention on that game would be so much better for NU than the Miami, Oh game. Yes the game will still sellout as Husker fans will show but the hype around this game won't be nearly as high if say the opponent was Tennessee. NU IMO made a huge mistake dropping that series instead of swapping the dates of the home and home.
That's possible, but I'm saying a 1 for 1 swap. Don't move the dates. Just swap years for the home and home. My understanding is we never made that offer. I wouldn't be surprised if Tennessee made that offer as I know Tennessee AD Danny White said the cancelation of the series was not mutual and they wanted to play the games.Maybe Tennessee's existing schedule didn't allow a swap?
Here's a thought: Maybe we asked to postpone it for a few years for our stadium rebuild (as we agreed to a postponement for them) and their AD White (still butthurt from his UCF days) got dickish about it, said no, and turned a future scheduling conflict into a publicity stunt.Maybe Tennessee's existing schedule didn't allow a swap?

Yeah to my understanding we never offered to R/S the series. Here's a thought: Maybe we asked to postpone it for a few years for our stadium rebuild (as we agreed to a postponement for them) and their AD White (still butthurt from his UCF days) got dickish about it, said no, and turned a future scheduling conflict into a publicity stunt.
